SPECIAL PROJECT
Type: Landed
Project completed: 2018
Designed as both a functional solution and a sculptural gesture, this custom shelving installation reimagines the study as a space for quiet power and layered thought. A series of horizontal planks — staggered, stacked, and rhythmically spaced — line the walls in a composition that invites both books and presence.
A Story Told in
Wood and Layers
Step into a space where books don't just live — they breathe, rest, and rise on a rhythm of layered planks. This installation reimagines the classic bookshelf, turning ordinary timber into an architectural statement. Each horizontal layer is a line of thought, each vertical rhythm a new chapter — together forming a sculptural, immersive wall of stories.

"Design is not just about making things beautiful; it's about making them work beautifully."
– Ilse Crawford

The planks, deliberately staggered and stacked, create a dynamic sense of movement while inviting a tactile experience of space. Whether left natural or finished to match the room’s tone, the wood adds warmth and texture, blurring the line between art and utility. It’s shelving that doesn’t just hold books — it holds attention.
It’s a statement. A conversation between material and meaning. This installation transforms shelving into spatial poetry: not merely storage, but an experience of space, thought, and material memory."

"A multi-sensory experience — not just visual, but atmospheric."

A place where literature meets landscape.

“Books rest where architecture breathes. Stacked planks rise like verses — a sculptural rhythm of space and silence, where storage becomes an act of reflection.”

""Materials have their own language... their own sound, their own smell, their own feel."
– Peter Zumthor
